KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team seized huge quantity of smuggled cloth worth millions of rupees after conducting a successful raid at the famous Tariq road market in Karachi.
According to the sources, on authentic information the raid was conducted by the customs team at Tariq road market on the night of 5th January during which huge quantity of smuggled cloth were apprehended.
While informing about the raid at Tariq Road market the Additional Collector Customs Preventive Haroon Waqar Malik informed that some culprits started firing on the Custom raid party during the search of the smuggled cloth.
As per information one of the labor was injured during the firing of the culprits during the raid of Pakistan Customs at Tariq Road Market and one of the customs vehicle got starting problem so it was left on the location, Haroon Waqar Malik informed.
The additional collector stated that the customs raiding team after conducting the successful operation took all the smuggled cloth facing no danger or any harmed was caused to any of the Custom officer as well as staff.
The recovered smuggled cloth worth Rs20 million in the international market and yes if the traders have the legal documents of the cloth that they said have been bought then all the stuff can be given back, further stated Additional Collector Customs Preventive Haroon Waqar Malik.
Additional Collector Custom Preventive said that the raids and operation s will get momentum in upcoming days against the culprits involved in the heinous crime of smuggling which is causing billions of rupees loss to the country’s economy.
The anger rose in traders after the raid of the Pakistan Customs and a protest was also held in this regards. The traders are on the point that the busted cloth is not smuggled, traders in protest closed their shops and urged the higher authority to sort out the matter as soon as possible.
