Customs Preventive seizes Indian origin smuggled katha in Shershah

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive apprehended huge quantity of smuggled Indian prohibited katha worth millions of rupees.

According to the details, Collector Preventive Saqif Saeed received credible information regarding the presence of the smuggled Indian origin katha in huge quantity at a godown in Shershah over which a team was constituted to take rapid action.

Taking leads the staff of the Pakistan Custom Preventive conducted a successful raid at the said godown in Shershah during which huge quantity ninety thousand kilograms of smuggled Indian origin katha which value seventy millions of rupees in the international market.

The anti-smuggled squad informed Customs Today that the recovered katha in huge quantity had to be used in making the gutka which is very dangerous to the health and government has imposed ban on it.

He said that the case against the culprits has been filed and further investigations are underway. The master mind involved in bringing such smuggled item would be deal with iron hands whereas the customs department working round the clock to root out such activities which is not only causing illness among citizens but is also effecting the economy badly.
