Customs seizes another non duty-paid Prado in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad has seized a smuggled non-duty paid 2002 model Land Cruiser Prado with fake registration number AJK-1837, while acting on tip of information.

According to Assistant Collector Preventive Division MCCI, Collectorate was informed that this car is being used in Islamabad under fake registration number of Azad Kashmir. Upon this information a team was formed under supervision of Superintendent Preventive Zargham Dil.

The team found the car in Rawalpindi Sadar area, when the Customs staff asked to show the documents, the owner and the driver ran away leaving the car. For further investigation a request was sent to Taxation Officer MARA Muzafarabad to check the documents upon which the car is registered along with that the car was sent to forensic lab Islamabad Police Headquarters for chemical treatment. According to the forensic report the chassis number of the car was not altered, now the case is sent to Collector Adjudication Seema Raza Bukhari who issued show-cause notice against anonymous people and asked to show up on 4, February whosoever claims to be the owner. If no one appears on the set date, the car might be confiscated.
