Customs seizes Iranian blankets from Quetta Express

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) have recovered different smuggled goods worth Rs 2 million from the Quetta Express at Khanewal Railway Station.

As per details, the Customs I&I raided Quetta Express at Khanewal Railway Station and thwarted the attempt to smuggle different contraband from Quetta to Lahore.

Customs I&I raided the Quetta Express in an early morning operation when it reached Khanewal Railway Station from Quetta and recovered 270 imported blankets of different sizes, 45 pieces of Iranian darri, three gearbox for heavy vehicles, 40kg milk toffees and 128kg coated milk chocolates.

All the recovered goods were smuggled from Iran and their estimated value is more than Rs 2 million.

Customs I&I Additional Director Nisar Ahmad formed a special team under his supervision to capture smuggled goods. Customs Inspectors, Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Hafiz Muhammad Younas, Muhammad Anwar and Sepoy Zulfiqar Malik participated in the raid on the train.

Nisar, during an exclusive talk with Customs Today, said that customs team raided the train for contrabands and recovered Iranian smuggled goods as smugglers were using rail routes for smuggling.

Meanwhile, Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized an imported Mazda truck from a workshop in Multan on duty evasion charges.

ASO officer Haq Nawaz raided the workshop on a tip, and on failure of providing import documents seized the vehicle with registration no LES 6489.
