Prague: Czech consumer price Index (CPI) increased 0.2 percent on a monthly basis in the month of October, putting the year-on-year inflation rate at 0.7 percent as statistics office data showed on Monday.
The annual rate matched analysts’ forecasts of a 0.7 percent rise.
The statistics office said year-on-year inflation was mainly influenced by a rise in transport prices and some food items.
The figure was below the central bank’s prediction of a 0.8 percent year-on-year rise of prices for October.
The central bank launched interventions to weaken the crown currency last November to fight the risk of deflation after already cutting interest rates to near zero.
The central bank said last week it would maintain its policy of keeping the exchange rate weak into 2016. It has committed to use interventions to prevent the crown from strengthening beyond around 27 per euro.
