COPENHAGEN: Mærsk Drilling Norway will lay off between 180 and 190 employees from three drilling rigs, the company’s employee union, MAF, has announced.
According to MAF, the employees will be laid off because the company’s contracts for two of the drilling rigs, Mærsk Giant and Mærsk Guardian, will end in September and October.
Additionally, a new client for the drilling rig Mærsk Gallant does not want to pay for the current staff. Mærsk Drilling Norway provides drilling services to oil companies around the world and has a total of 1,300 employees working at the Norwegian drilling rigs.
