The meeting considered different modes for undertaking these projects and directed officials concerned to put up a proposal for consideration and subsequently putting in place the mechanism for implementation of the projects in the private sector.

The Finance Minister said that the government was considering these projects in a bid to further augment the 10,000 plus megawatt generation programme for bridging the gap in electricity demand and supply by December 2017.

The meeting emphasized that the proposal for the 1000 MW projects should guarantee complete transparency and minimum possible tariff. The meeting resolved that these projects are to be undertaken on fast track basis and should be up and ready by April 2017.

Secretary to the Prime Minister, Fawad Hasan Fawad, Secretary Finance Dr Waqar Masood Khan and other senior officials of the Ministries of Finance, Water and Power, P&NR, PPIB and NTDC attended the meeting.
