KARACHI: The Pakistan exports are feared to decline as dearth of space has occurred at Pakistan International Containers Terminal (PICT) and the ports.

The sources said importers show reluctance in delivery of their consignments despite clearance due to imposition of heavy damages and detention charges. The sources said this thing has caused shortage of space at the PICT. The sources said that a container is opened for examining and then another container is opened. This is also reason for space shortage at the PICT. On the other hand, delay in examination of containers causes ship to leave sans container. This delay is causing damage to the trade. The exports are also discouraged due to dearth of space at terminal for customer examination.
