COPENHAGEN: New figures from Statistics Denmark show that the national labour market grew for the 23rd straight month in March.

Some 4,300 new employees entered the workforce in March, brining the national totals to 2,599,400 wage earners, Statistics Denmark said on Thursday. Even though the nation is now closing in on two consecutive years of job growth, a Nordea senior analyst warned that there could be trouble ahead.

“This development also means that the Danish economy risks being hit by a lack of manpower relatively soon in certain sectors,” Jan Størup Nielsen wrote on Nordea’s website. The Economic Council of the Labour Movement (LA) said that the steady job growth was a sign that the Danish labour market has turned itself around and it’s head analyst Erik Bjørsted didn’t share Nielsen’s concerns about a coming labour shortage.

“Looking ahead, things look really good and more and more prognoses are currently being revised upwards,” Bjørsted wrote on his organization’s website, pointing to the report released by the Danish Economic Council on Tuesday that predicted Denmark’s GDP to grown by 1.9 percent this year and 2.3 percent in 2016.
