LAHORE: The Punjab and the Sindh boards of investment have agreed to share information and experiences.
In this regard, Lubna Pathan, the director general of the Projects Policy and Research of the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, visited Dr Asif A Brohi, chairman of the Sindh Board of Investment, and discussed various policies and issues.
In the meeting during general discussion, DG PBIT deliberated upon the activities, vision, different sectors of Investment and policies of PBIT. She revealed that besides different sectors of investment, PBIT is focusing on the development and investment in Agriculture and Livestock. Investment from Qatar, Afghanistan and Central Asian countries is the main focus of PBIT and currently PBIT is focusing on Canadian market. In addition to this she proposed that SBI and PBIT may engage positively in different areas of mutual interest and sharing of information. She was of the view that in future both offices may chalk out mutual promotional activities for the promotion of investment in Pakistan like business conferences, road shows and seminars at the local and foreign levels.
Dr. Asif A. Brohi, Chairman SBI appreciated the vision and efforts of PBIT for the promotion of investment related activities in Punjab. He supported the proposal of Lubna Pathan for the mutual activities related to marketing & promotion of investment in various sectors locally, as well as abroad and reiterated the joint efforts in the Agriculture sector for its value addition and value chain to attract the higher buying markets. Moreover, DG SBI and Naheed Memon provided the details of current activities of SBI in different sectors of economy of province and its future vision.
The meeting was attended by Naheed Memon, Vice Chairperson SBI, Muhammad Riazuddin, Director General SBI, Abrar Shaikh, Director SBI and Mehboob-ul-Haq Memon, Chief Executive Officer, SEDF.
