COPENHAGEN: The Danish energy titan DONG Energy has become the first wind park operator in the world to be awarded the internationally recognised ISO 55001:2014 certification for asset management.
Michael Simmelsgaard, the head of operations and maintenance at DONG Energy Wind Power, explained that the award follows a process of increasing the effectiveness of the installations and reducing costs by standardising the processes for their operation and maintenance.
“This is a big achievement and I’m very proud to see we’re now harvesting the fruits of a tremendous effort done in standardising our workflows and processes, and I’m proud we received this certification,” said Simmelsgaard.
ISO (the International Organisation for Standardisation) is an independent, non-governmental membership organisation and the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards. The ISO 55001 takes factors into account how companies manage risk, financial performance, adherence to regulations and workforce safety.
