DUBAI: Respective leaders from Dubai and Bahrain recently pooled their resources to share information and relate experiences to mutually benefit one another’s global perspectives at an event hosted by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Promoting rapport and collaboration between the two GCC organizations, participants at the roundtable discussion strove to fortify the role of Chambers in the Arab world as well as on an international scale.
Omar Khan, who serves as Dubai Chamber director for international offices, described the chamber’s high profile over the past year with 66 worldwide events as well as receiving delegations from 69 nations, encouraging private sector business in Dubai. Khan added that Dubai represented at the Milan (Italy) Expo 2015’s UAE Pavilion and the 10th World Retail Congress to further bolster the emirate’s competitive edge. Dubai Chamber’s mission is to further the economy via trade, tourism, logistics and financial services. It operates outposts in Baku, Erbil, Accra, Addis Ababa and Maputo.
Meeting members included Abdulrahim Naqi, secretary general for the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FGCC Chambers), and Nabeel Al Mahmood, CEO of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI). Additional representatives attended from the Federation of GCC Chambers along with stakeholders of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf – Secretariat General, Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait, Amman, Qatar Chambers and the Council of Saudi Chambers. The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry is located in the city of Manama. The nonprofit group was founded in 1939 to advocate for private sector business.
