WASHINGTON: Be conscious as another Internet bug ‘Poodle’ has started attacking your computers and making your private conversations public.
As per reports, the Google security researchers have revealed that there were weaknesses in methods for securing Internet communication. “Our Web browsers are susceptible to a cyberattack dubbed “Poodle” (Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encryption).
Normally, your web browsers use software to encrypt your conversations. New versions of that software make encryption more robust over time. But with the Poodle attack, a hacker can force your browser to downgrade to an old version (SSL 3.0), which is far less secure than today’s SSL standard.
Rumours that a new bug in OpenSSL software had been circulating on Twitter and technology news sites in recent days, are prompting some corporate security professionals to prepare to respond to a major new threat this week.
