LONDON: Ericsson telecom worked on the data connection speed to an awful level. The company successfully achieved its target throughput of 5G while testing the technology in the U.S. and Sweden.

Ericsson revealed its plans about 5G technology just a few days ago, when the company posted a photo of a van and posed a question “What seats 8 comfortably, gets 20 miles per gallon and more than 2 gigabits per second?”

“Today, it takes up the luggage space in a mini-van but, by 2020, it’ll fit nicely in your smartphone, watch or other wearable,” Ericsson predicted.

The Swedish telecom company has been assessing the merits of various technologies that can be potentially used in anticipated 5G networks. One of the candidate technologies for incorporation in 5G is Multipoint Connectivity with Distributed MIMO, according to Neowin.

The aforesaid technology can be used to maintain data speed as it designates multiple towers to devices and permits transmission of multiple datastreams simultaneously.

Multipoint Connectivity with Distributed MIMO gave very impressive outputs during the testing phase. The researchers were able to attain startling speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

In addition to this unseen data speed, the novice technology consumes less energy in contrast to the present methods, and possesses much better latency.

Along with these features, the attested technology will broaden the scope of networks by allowing many more mobile devices to connect to the same networks. All this means an excellent technology in works that can meet the data requirements of highly advanced devices.
