ROME: Europe’s main stock markets have edged higher at the start of trading, with London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index gaining a marginal 0.03 per cent to stand at 6,838.88 points.
Elsewhere, Frankfurt’s DAX 30 added 0.11 per cent to 10,675.59 points on Tuesday and the CAC 40 in Paris won 0.27 per cent to 4,663.46 compared with Monday’s close.
The region’s equities sank on Monday after Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras vowed to stand by his anti-austerity electoral promises, fanning fresh fears over Greece’s possible exit from the eurozone.
