ROME: Europe’s main stock markets have steadied at the start of trading following strong gains a day earlier.
London’s FTSE 100 index on Wednesday rose 0.14 per cent to 7,005.01 points, Frankfurt’s DAX 30 inched up 0.04 per cent to 11,858.47 points, and the CAC 40 in Paris fell 0.22 per cent to 5,106.26.
The Frankfurt and Paris stock markets had surged on Tuesday after a European Central Bank executive board member signalled that the ECB would temporarily ramp up its stimulus program aimed at boosting the eurozone economy.
