FBR chief Bajwa holds one-to-one meeting with DG Internal Audit Customs Rubina Wasti

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Tariq Bajwa recently held one-to-one meeting with the Director General of the Directorate of Internal Audit-Customs Rubina Wasti at FBR Headquarters, Islamabad.

The well informed sources disclosed Customs Today that Mr Bajwa during the meeting, lauded the efforts of the officers of the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs, for pointed out the revenue leakages of the field formation collectorates.

The FBR chief asked the Director General (DG) Internal Audit-Customs to take more effective measures to point out the revenue leakages of the field formation Collectorates countrywide and let him know about the development in pointing out the revenue shortfall through monthly reports.

The sources further revealed this scribe that the Chairman FBR has admitted that the working of Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has been improved by the passage of time and would also be enhanced under the supervision of Director General Rubina Wasti.

“The Chairman FBR Tariq Bajwa assured the Director General-Internal Audit (Customs) on his full support in enhancing the performance of the department”, sources added.

On the occasion, DG Internal Audit- Customs Rubina Wasti briefed the Chairman FBR on 6-month performance of the department.

Rubina Wasti informed Chairman FBR that the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has detected outstanding duty/taxes amounting to Rs1.3billion approximately in different consignments including steel billets, anti-dumping, DTRE and telecommunication sector.

Rubina Wasti further said that the audit paras of the detected amount have been sent to the relevant field formation Collectorate countrywide and around Rs100million have already been recovered.

Chairman FBR has expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs and asked the Director General to carry on the efficient working in the same manner.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Internal Audit-Customs has already sent millions of rupees outstanding revenue shortfall through audit-paras to the field formation Collectorates countrywide.
