FBR to re-profile importers of Green Channel soon

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has planned to re-profile the importers of the Green Channel due to increasing complaints of mis-declaration.

According to the source, the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has already requested the FBR to re-profile the importers to avoid the misuse of Green Channel facility.

The source further said that a large number of importers are involved in misusing the Green Channel. If the re-profiling is approved, then the task will be divided in to three phases. In the first phase the record regarding the importers of the Green and Yellow Channels involved in mis-declaration will be complied, informed the source.

In the second phase, the scrutiny of consignments for the importers of the Green and Yellow Channels will be done thoroughly. In the last phase, the new list of the importers of the Green and Yellow channels will be complied, added the source.

During the last six months, the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) received various complains whereas on the secret information successful raids have been carried out against those involved in the mis-declaration, said the source.
