FIA, Excise dept foil Hundi transaction, seize Rs 27.6m

PESHAWAR: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Excise and Taxation Department in a joint action have seized Rs 27.6 million currency from a car allegedly being shifted through hundi (illegal transfer of money) on Motorway Interchange and arrested one accused on the spot.

On a tip off that a huge amount would be shifted through Hundi via Peshawar motorway, FIA and Excise and Taxation staff was alerted to frustrate the bid, officials sources told APP on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a car appeared on the scene and was asked to stop for search near Peshawar-Motorway.

The accused instead accelerated speech of the vehicle that was overpowered after a little chase by the FIA and Excise staff.

During search, Rs 27.6 million currency was recovered from secret cavities of the vehicle. One accused was arrested from whom investigation was underway.
