In the meeting, Tariq Bajwa assured the transporters that unnecessary intervention by customs officials on the highways would be eliminated to facilitate the transporters. He also directed Customs Member Nisar Ahmad Khan in this regard.

The delegation included Transporters Alliance President Muhammad Khalid Khan, Secretary General Shoaib Khan, Vice President Rana Muhammad Aslam, Customs Committee Chairman Ziaullah Shal, Vice Chairman Adnan Fayyaz, Chaudhry Zulfiqar and Malik Jameel.

Talking to Customs Today, Transporters Alliance Secretary General Shoaib Khan termed the meeting as successful. Condemning smuggling, he said that elimination of smuggling would not only help the national economy but also enhance business for transporters.

He said that transporters just provide the facility of transportation to importers, while the duties/taxes on consignment was a matter of the department and importers.
