PARIS: France’s gross domestic product stagnated as estimated in the second quarter, the second estimate from the statistical office Insee showed Friday.
Gross domestic product remained flat from the prior quarter, after expanding 0.7 percent in the first quarter. On the expenditure-side, household consumption showed nil growth versus 1.2 percent expansion in the first quarter.
Government spending growth held steady at 0.4 percent. Investment dropped 0.2 percent following a 1.3 percent rise in the prior quarter. Exports slid 0.1 percent and imports decreased 2 percent. The net foreign trade contributed 0.6 point to GDP.
