MELBOURNE: German tuner B&B Automobiltechnik has come up with a performance kit for the new 177kW/500Nm 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel model that adds quite a dollop of power.

The performance kit includes an air induction system, a custom stainless steel exhaust, and a boost increase of 0.2 bar (2.9psi). Making sure the new parts work in harmony, the car’s ECU is also optimised.

As a result, engine output is lifted to a tantalising 220kW and 630Nm, giving it the ability to shoot from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds, down from 6.3 for the standard model. This kit will set punters back  €3950 (approximately AU$5850).

If that’s more power than you’d like, B&B offers a lesser 202kW/570Nm performance kit for €1298 (approximately AU$1920). The German tuner also offers a suspension lowering package and a host of alloy wheels that range in sizes from 19 to 20 inches, as well as various exterior body enhancements.

The new 177kW 2015 Passat uses a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission as well as all-wheel drive 4Motion technology. Design-wise, the 2015 Passat sports a more sophisticated exterior design with a much bolder appearance, as well as new LED headlights. The wheelbase has also been stretched by 79mm, while the overall length has been reduced by 2mm.
