NEW YORK: Google begs pardon from the Apple for the picture of the Android robot urinating on the Apple logo that was discovered in the company’s map of an area of rural Pakistan.

The surprise image seemed to express the search giant’s strong feelings about its fruity competitor.

Another image was discovered a few miles east which said “Google review policy is crap” accompanied by an unsmiling face.

Anyone can actually edit Google Maps using the company’s Map Maker tool.

This means you can flag when your business has changed addresses or map places that haven’t been detailed yet.

The flip side is that disgruntled individuals can draw Google’s mascot robot having a wee on a competitor.

“We’re sorry for this inappropriate user-created content; we’re working to remove it quickly,” a Google spokesperson told TechCrunch.

The image in question was created by a Map Maker user called ‘nitricboy’, who has also managed to get a happy face and the Skype logo onto the charts.

Google says it’s trying to improve the way it detects and handles bad edits.

“Handling spam is a complex issue and we’re continuously working on ways to improve our systems, including new ways of preventing, detecting and taking down incorrect edits,” the spokesperson added.
