LONDNON: Google has just posted its Android platform after making user wait nearly until the second week of January to give users the 1st Android distribution stats of 2015. Google has decided to be a bit faster with February’s numbers.
February is the first month that Android 5.0 Lollipop has appeared in these stats, debuting with a 1.6 percent market share
Distribution stats for the 7-day period ending today, February 2. The numbers are gathered from the Google Play Store app and show which versions of Android accessed the app during the 7-day survey period.
. Android 4.4 KitKat grew a smidgen from last month, going from 39.1 percent to 39.7 percent, while Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean dropped from 46 percent to 44.5 percent. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich fell from 6.7 percent to 6.4 percent.
There are two pre-Android 4.0 versions that are still hanging around. Android 2.3 Gingerbread finished at 7.4 percent, down from the 7.8 percent share that it had in January, while Android 2.2 Froyo held steady at 0.4 percent.
It’s nice to see Android 5.0 finally gain enough market shares to appear on Google’s stats. The update has steadily been rolling out to Nexus and Google Play edition devices in recent months, and now we’re seeing it hit popular products like the Galaxy S5, which should help pump up Lollipop’s adoption in the next couple of reports.
