Govt introduces welfare projects thru commercial use of Railways land

LAHORE: A senior official of Punjab government has said that the provincial government has decided in principle to get opportunities for commercial utilization of railway lands, specially those near railway stations.

The government, the official said, had constituted a committee headed by the Chief Secretary for preparing recommendations on practical possibilities to promote commercial and business activities at Railway land. A period of one month has been given to the committee to complete the task after a detailed study, he said while talking to media here the other day. The committee will consider preparation of a feasibility report for construction of sports grounds and other venues having profitable economic activities, he said.
