SOUTH PADRE ISLAND: A helicopter crew spotted the Mexican fishing boat. It was 22 miles north of the USMexico maritime board.
A Coast Guard boat crew intercepted the fishing boat. They found six sharks, 66 red snapper and seven eels. The catch, which weighed a total of more than 600 pounds, was returned to the sea.
The Coast Guard crew turned over the four people aboard the boat to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The U.S. Coast Guard detained a group of Mexican fishermen, after a chase on the waters near South Padre Island.
