The said superintendent ordered Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Sarwar to constitute a team for impounding smuggled vehicles and other items. The deputy superintendent and his team, comprising Intelligence Officer Mian Muhammad Yousaf, Constables Asad Raza, Mubashir, Boota, Mubashir and others, started checking vehicles and intercepted a van bearing registration No: RIP-1255-06 which was coming from Rawalpindi to Lahore.

The team recovered packets of black-tea from the van. The team also asked Driver Asghar to show documents regarding the legal import but he failed. The team registered a case under the Customs Act-1969 against the accused. The department will also issue a legal notice to van stand manager as he loaded smuggled tea without import documents while driver was released along with vehicle after a proper interrogation. The case has been sent to the Customs Adjudication for legal action.

Superintendent Sajjad Rubbani said the anti-smuggling campaign is getting better in the Gujranwala Region day-by-day.
