Haryana, Switzerland to sign MOU for hotel management training

SWITZERLAND: Haryana and Switzerland have agreed to explore the possibilities of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for imparting training to the students in the field of hotel management so that maximum youth could be provided employment in the booming hotel industry. A five-member delegation of Switzerland led by Bruno Sauter, Deputy Minister for  Economic Affairs and Labour, Zurich, Switzerland who called on Chief Minister Manohar Lal here on Thursday evinced keen interest in mutual cooperation with Haryana in the fields of Information Technology (IT), Education, Agriculture, Financial Services and Sports. During the meeting, Manohar Lal said that study centres in both Haryana and Switzerland imparting specialised courses should be promoted. He said that the Institute of Hotel Management, Panipat is among the best institute of the country with good placement record.

Bruno Sauter said once the MOU is signed, the students from Haryana could easily get admissions in various specialised courses of six months to one year duration in hotel management in reputed Universities of Switzerland. Those students who intend to pursue hotel management courses but are unable   to come to Switzerland, arrangement of online training could also be made for such students and this would be economical for them. Apart from this, the Swiss faculty would also visit the hotel management institutes in Haryana to deliever special lectures, said he.

Bruno Sauter said that Switzerland which is relatively a smaller country having population of eight million people is well known for tourism industry and its specialization in the fields of IT, education, financial services and milk production. He said that  a large number of students from Haryana came here for pursuing studies in hotel management. Haryana Education and Tourism Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma and Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu were also present in the meeting. Earlier, the delegation also called on Cabinet Minister Ram Bilas Sharma and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, OPDhankar and discussed various issues of mutual interest. Sharma offered Switzerland to become the partner country in the Surajkund International Crafts Mela scheduled to be held in Surajkund, Faridabad in February 2018. The Minister said that this Craft Mela provides an appropriate platform to the artisans of different countries to showcase their talent.
