NEW YORK: Honda has planned for the introduction of the 5-door Civic hatchback in the United States. Honda Civic will be taking its power, in its new market, from a 1.8 liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which should be producing a total of 150 HP. The unit should be connected to a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission and it may be followed by a 1.5 liter VTEC, which will be more powerful.
The new Honda Civic Type R will also play a major role in the Civic imports as this will be introduced in the United States too. This should get the same 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol burner under its hood as the European version, rated at 310 HP (228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration takes just 5.7 seconds and top speed stands at 270 km/h (167 mph).
