HONG KONG: Hong Kong Customs yesterday seized about 1.2 kilograms of suspected ketamine in Mong Kok and arrested a man. The market value of the drug was about $157,000.
During an anti-narcotics operation, Customs officers intercepted a man in Mong Kok at noon yesterday and found about 200 grams of suspected ketamine on him. About 1kg of suspected ketamine and over $390,000 in cash were also seized from his residence subsequently.
The 30-year-old man, who claimed to be unemployed, was charged with two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
He will appear at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
