BEIJING: HP (Hewlett-Packard) has appointed chairman of HP China Mao Yunan to concurrently serve as new chairman of its subsidiary in Hangzhou, H3C Technologies. The move has reportedly triggered a strong protest from H3C’s employees, arguing the appointment will affect the company’s autonomy.
More than 1,000 employees of H3C in Hangzhou and Beijing joined the recent protest, demanding HP make commitment to protecting the interest of H3C’s employees and to implementing its planned employee stock option program.
The employees are worried that the new appointment will delay the stock option plan as well as a plan to push H3C to list independently in stock market.
H3C is a leading provider of data communications equipment provider in China, accounting for the largest share of LAN switch and enterprise router markets in the country.
