He was later seconded to Hong Kong as a regional sales manager before moving to Shenzhen in 2008 to head up HSBC’s southern China team.

Since his return to Shanghai in 2010, he has been a core member of China’s PCM management team covering a few critical roles including head of product, head of sales and most recently head of global banking corporate sales.  Sun succeeds Kee Joo Wong who was recently appointed as regional head of PCM for HSBC Asia-Pacific. In his new role, Sun reports functionally to Kee Joo Wong and locally to Terence Chiu, head of commercial banking, HSBC China, and the head of global banking and markets, HSBC China.

Kee Joo Wong comments: “Lewis’ thorough understanding of the Greater China market landscape and his dedication to helping our clients address their treasury challenges are well recognised.

“Over the last five years, Lewis has played an instrumental role in maintaining close relationships with clients and regulators in China. As China continues to drive the global economy, Lewis will be instrumental in contributing to HSBC’s growth strategy in Asia.”
