HTC, Sony to get Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop updates

LONDON: HTC revealed it will update four smartphones to Android 5.0 Lollipop while Sony announced that the entire Xperia Z lineup will be updated to the Google’s OS version.

The HTC devices HTC One, HTC One (M8); HTC One mini and HTC One mini 2 will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop.

HTC One and One (M8) will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update within 90 days of getting final software from Google.

Meanwhile, Sony announced the “entire premium” Xperia Z series will receive an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, including Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

Google, soon after announcing Android 5.0 Lollipop, revealed that several previous-generation Nexus devices will be receiving the update “in the coming weeks,” specifically the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (possibly for both the 2012 and 2013 versions), the Nexus 10, and Google Play Edition devices.
