Huawei Honor 6 gives tough time to Samsung Galaxy 5

LONDON: Samsung is known for its Galaxy S series that sold millions of handsets over the years; but with the rise of Chinese manufacturers that offer flagships at a lower price tag, threatening the widely known Galaxy S5.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is clad in a plastic shell but an an IP67 certified. It weighs 145 grams and its dimensions are 142×72.5×8.1 mm and features a 1080p Super AMOLED screen display in its 5.1inch screen.

While Honor 6 pulls off a flat glossy finish on its back, and the edges are made of faux-metal, and the rear panel is the diamond-style texture. It has the same resolution, but features a lower pixel density of 432ppi. According to reports, the Super AMOLED display has a better contrast and doesn’t drain the battery as fast as the IPS LCD.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is powered by a powerful Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 Krait 400 processor with four cores, each cores are clocked at 2.5GHz, coupled with an Adreno 330 GPU and supported by a 2GB of RAM.

On the orther hand, the Huawei Honor 6 houses an octa core HiSilicon Kirin 920 processor with two quad core processors (Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7) clocked at 1.7Ghz and 1.3Ghz, with a gigabyte higher of RAM. Both devices came with the Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) and the Galaxy S5 comes with TouchWiz UI, while the Honor 6 has Emotion UI.

These two devices come in 32Gb internal storage variants with an external card slot that can store up to 128GB of data, and 16GB variant for Samsung Galaxy S5.

Huawei’s Honor 6 has a13MP rear camera that can take a photo in 0.6seconds and 5MP on front.

While the Galaxy S5 offers a 16MP Camera with ISOCELL technology, which makes it a better camera phone than S4’s 13MP camera. Also, S5 is the only device that gives you the option of 4k video recording. Well, that means it can produce high quality videos.

When it comes to battery life, Huawei steps it up a notch at 3,100 mAh that can last up to 2.7 days while the S5 powered by 2,800mAh can provide up to 21 hours of talk time.

Though the Huawei Honor 6 is a powerful device. The S5 has other functional features like biometric lock using fingerprint sensor and heart rate monitor.
