NEW YORK: The strong relations between IBM and Apple have been consummated start with 10 new enterprise apps launched, sporting some big name clients.
After teaming up in July, the two tech giants have revealed Citi, Air Canada, Sprint and Banorte are among their initial clients looking to utilise the business-centric apps which hope to streamline existing processes and retain customer loyalty.
One new app promises to allow flight attendants to help passengers change their connecting reservations mid-air and another is designed to help telecom service workers find their way to customers quickly using GPS.
While Apple and IBM have traditionally been rivals in the technology sphere, the partnership, named “MobileFirst”, hopes to combine IBM’s data analytics capability and existing understanding of business needs and Apple’s skill at creating user-friendly, attractive products.
Organisations can customise MobileFirst for iOS and can link in to their own internal business services. Both companies stress security is imperative, and since the apps store sensitive company data, they will be able to provide valuable analytics too.
