BEJING: IDC reveals that the Xiaomi Mi band priced at Rs 999 is now the second most shipped wearable device in the world.

Considering the recent launch and subsequent rise of Xiaomi products, this is some phenomenal feat. According to a report in Quartz, “The product hit the market last August in mainland China, and since then has spread to India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. On Monday, it finally hit US and European shores, among the first Xiaomi products to reach the West.”

“Despite its name and branding, the Mi Band isn’t actually a Xiaomi product. It’s made by Huami Technologies, a separate company with its own CEO. In addition to the Mi Band, Huami also makes Xiaomi’s smart scale,“the report adds.

Xiaomi had launched the Mi4i smartphone and the Mi band on 23rd April in New Delhi with the Mi 4i launched in India first, before going global.
