“Export declined as the domestic price of shell charcoal, the raw material used for the production of activated carbon, remains at a reasonably high level, affecting the competitiveness of the product in the International market. “The trend is expected to continue in the current fiscal year also,” the analysts said.   The value of export of dry coconut to Pakistan in fiscal 2014-15 was around Rs 183.06 crore.  The export of virgin coconut oil, compared to the previous year, posted a significant growth in both quantity and value.  “From Rs  4.81 crore in 2013-14, the value of virgin coconut oil export increased to Rs 24.72 crore last year. The quantity of virgin coconut oil export is expected to rise to 2,000 metric tonne in the current fiscal,” the statement added.
