DHAKA: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) killed a Bangladeshi on Khalisha Border in Kurigram, when he was smuggling cows near pillar 934 on border.
The victim, Shyamol Chandra, 35, was from Naodanga union in the upazila.
Shyamol died on the spot and his body fell on the Bangladesh side of the zero line.
Subedar Abdul Motir, Shimulbari company commander of 45 BGB battalion stationed in Kurigram, confirmed the death and said: “We recovered the body around 10:30am and handed it over to Fulbari police. A formal protest has been sent to the BSF over the incident.”
Fulbari police OC Bajlur Rashid also confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune and added that the body was later sent to Kurigram Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
