HYDERABAD: Indian Customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport have detained the person who was carrying illegal gold coins, at the time of search he swallowed the gold coins here the other day.
A man Abdul Kareem landed at the airport from Kuala Lumpur on here the other day. According to sources, the customs officials detected that he was carrying gold coins illegally. When they asked him to show them the gold, Kareem was at his wits’ end. The prospect of losing his precious coins seemed unbearable.
He immediately rushed into the nearest washroom. The officials, who gave him a chase, caught him but only to find that he had swallowed all the coins by then. Coins were weighted just about 350 grams. The officials shifted him to the Osmania Hospital where doctors put him under the knife Friday and extracted the coins. The officials slapped cases against him for trying to smuggle in gold.
