Surprisingly, all the remaining four municipalities such as Sircilla, Korutla, Jagtial and Metpally and five Nagara panchayats viz Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Husnabad, Peddapalli and Vemualawada have also crossed 90 per cent mark in the collection of property tax.

In entire district, the municipal authorities have collected Rs. 30.21 crore against the target of Rs 35.12 crore.

The authorities have balance of only Rs. 4.91 crore to be collected from the people in the district.

The MCK authorities said that the campaign of educating the people to pay their taxes pertaining property, tap connections without interest yielded good results with the good tax collection.

“We sent a clear message that they would disconnect the tap if they fail to pay property tax on time.

The people were also scared of seizure of their properties if they fail to pay property tax, they added. Sources said that the property tax collection had declined in the industrial town of Ramagundam due to the lethargy on the part of the MCR officials concerned and lack of proper leadership. Even the elected representatives failed to motivate the officials and the people on the issue, they noted.
