BALI: Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) of Bali Province expected the government to fix the port infrastructure to be representative for cruise ships in order to increase the number of foreign tourists.
“We don’t have any harbor for yacht. Singapore has four ports of cruise, but we don’t have any,” said Chairman of the Chamber of Bali, Gede Sumarjaya Linggih encountered in the 2015 Economic Outlook Seminar in Denpasar here the other day.
During 2014 to November, the Central Bureau of Statistics of Bali Province recorded as many as 3,419,268 people and tourists visiting the island.
Of that amount, about 28,644 of whom arrived through the port on the island, including some medium-sized cruise ships docked in the port of Benoa, Denpasar.
During this time foreign tourists who visit to an area using cruise services are tourists who have big expenses because it is considered a luxury travel.
However, this potential has not been supported by adequate infrastructure such as docks for large cruise ship so that guests who want to travel to Bali should be unloaded first at sea and then use a smaller boat to the island.
Until now, only a few medium-sized cruise ships can use Benoa Port, Denpasar.
With a more representative infrastructure for cruise ship, it is expected could bring more number of foreign tourists to meet the target of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia as many as 20 million people in 2019.
