Industrialists, Site Limited agree on joint strategy to improve infrastructure

KARACHI: SITE Limited and SITE Association of Industry have agreed to adopt a joint strategy and take measures with mutual consent to resolve infrastructure issues of SITE area – the oldest & largest industrial area of Pakistan.

On the occasion of visit to SITE Association of Industry, newly appointed Managing Director of SITE Limited Shahzad Fazal Abbasi, in a meeting with representatives of the Association, agreed to earmark a dumping point in SITE area for the dumping of solid waste. A system will also be devised for solid waste management on permanent basis. In addition, cleaning of area and roads repair work will also be started soon.

Patron-in-Chief of SITE Association Zubair Motiwala, President Abdul Hadi, SVP Riazuddin and VP Abdul Kadir Bilwani were also present on this occasion.

MD SITE Shahzad Fazal Abbasi assured industrialists of every cooperation on his behalf and said that he will try to resolve issues being faced by industries of the area on priority basis. However, it will need some time to improve working of SITE Limited and make it an exemplary institution and changes & improvements in SITE area will be noticed soon.

“A Joint survey of the area will be conducted by SITE Limited and SITE Association to identify areas which need immediate repair works”, he added.

Taking notice of delays in processing matters / files of industries, Shahzad Fazal Abbasi assured to look into the complaint and expedite the same.

Zubair Motiwala, Patron-in-Chief of SITE Association, said that SITE Limited should play its due role in resolving issues of the area. About two decades ago, SITE Limited was an example for other institutions but today, it is standing at the verge of collapse. He expressed the hope that new MD of SITE Limited would be able to make SITE Limited a good example to attract new investment in the area and avert shifting of existing industries to other industrial zones.

Earlier, President SITE Abdul Hadi, welcoming the new MD of SITE Limited said that at this time, we need a joint strategy to resolve issue of SITE area and expedite provision of services to industries. We want to establish a strong liaison with SITE Limited to give some relief to the industries of the area. He drew attention of MD SITE towards major issues which included patch work and construction of roads, cleaning & restoration of sewerage system and garbage lifting from the area and requested him to accord priority to these issues.

He also mentioned that exorbitant non-utilization charges (NUF) are being charged from the industrialists and requested to correct such bills. He added that water bills are being sent to those who neither have water connection nor meter is installed.

Abdul Hadi also demanded the MD SITE to take notice of undue delays in allowing Permission to Mortgage (PTM) to members of SITE Association.
