Intermarché is planning an extension in the Portuguese market and is aiming to increase its market share (currently set at 9.2 percent) through new store openings and a price reduction strategy.
ISN Magazine writes that “With an “ambitious” investment plan, Intermarché plans to allocate €200 million for the opening of 105 stores and the creation of 3,150 jobs by 2023. Last year, investment was around € 30 million at the opening of nine points of sale and this year should rise to €60 million, materialized in 15 stores.”

Intermarché will invest €11 million in the expansion and modernisation of the Alcanena base and €3.5 million in the expansion of the Cantanhede in order to keep up with the growth of the network.
