According to the results for sales of the first month, the iPhone 6 beats the iPhone 6 Plus in sales in 3 to 1 ratio. The original model accounts for 68 percent of all sales in September and early October, while the bigger iPhone 6 Plus accounts for 24%. The rest of the sales belong to the older models such as the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.

According to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, the company behind the analysis, the larger models are more popular and the average capacity is 48 GB. Some experts believe that the statistics are the result of Apple removing the 32 GB version from its range.

Another aspect of the report was to determine how many people are switching from an Android device to an iOS device. Last year, 23% of the users that bought an iPhone, previously owned an Android based device. This year, that number is 12%.

However, even though there are less people switching to iOS this year, those who made the switch, chose the iPhone 6 or the iPhone 6 Plus. Usually, Android users chose the cheaper versions of the iPhone when they make the switch, but this year the result shows a different trend.

iPhone 6 vs. iPhone 6 Plus: Less Users, More User Engagement

While there are less users opting for the iPhone 6 Plus model, those who chose the bigger device, spend more time using it. The results show that the bigger handset has stronger user engagement, with the length of the session longer for 13%. Additionally, there are 11% more application launches in the iPhone 6 Plus model, compared to the smaller brother.
