WASHINGTON: Due to bigger size, the iPhone 6 Plus is difficult to keep in the pocket than the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, but, according to latest reports at least, its popularity has hit hard its little brother.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have proven to be enormous hits. Apple sold a record-setting 10 million phones during the first weekend, and the company reported that it sold a whopping 39.3 million iPhones in the last quarter ending Sept. 30.

According to John Legere, CEO of the US arm of T-Mobile, iPhone 6 Plus sales have been matching those of the standard iPhone 6. It had been expected that the larger, Galaxy Note 4 challenger would play second fiddle to its little brother.

With the network having expected the 6 Plus to account for just 20 to 25 per cent of iPhone 6 sales, Legere has revealed the split is closer to 45 per cent.

T-Mobile’s comments come just days after Apple revealed it had increased orders of the iPhone 6 Plus in a bid to meet continually high demand. In the UK, Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus is still being plagued by stock constraints. Through Apple’s official online store, all configurations and colours of the iPhone 6 are currently being listed alongside estimated ‘3-4 weeks’ delivery times. Although proving a hit with consumers now, the iPhone 6 Plus did not get off to the easiest of starts.
