ISLAMABAD: Customs and borders’ agents have expressed reservations over sparing logistic organisations concerned in the investigation into Afghan commercial cargo. They said that investigative agencies instead of Nato/ASAF were investigating hundreds of Afghanistan bound trade cargos, while the national agencies, which were actually responsible, had been exempted from it.

These reservations were expressed by a delegation of Customs and borders’ agents headed by former KPCCI senior vice president Ziaul Haq Sarhadi during a meeting with Director General (DG) National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi, Wajid Ali Durrani and briefed him on apprehensions of clearing, border and forwarding agents of KPK and Chaman regarding inquiry into Nato containers scandal.

NAB Director Ghulam Farooq and Additional Director Abdul Hafeez Siddiqui were also present on the occasion. They told the NAB DG that due to case proceedings in Sindh High Court, the borders’ agents of KP and Chaman had to come to Karachi, which had multiplied their problems.

They requested that investigations from the clearing and border’s agents of KP should be conducted in NAB Office Peshawar and from the colleagues of Balochistan in Quetta NAB Office to get them rid of additional financial expenses. NAB DG Wajid Ali Durrani assured all possible cooperation to Ziaul Haq Sarhadi and said the border agents of KP and Chaman border would be provided all facilities.
