TOKYO: Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Transportation Equipment and Warehousing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taisei Corp. (T:1801), which rose 3.85% or 30.0 points to trade at 809.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) added 3.47% or 77.0 points to end at 2293.0 and Kajima Corp. (T:1812) was up 3.42% or 24.0 points to 726.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Minebea Co., Ltd. (T:6479), which fell 6.67% or 91.0 points to trade at 1274.0 at the close. J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:3086) declined 4.36% or 89.0 points to end at 1950.0 and Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) was down 4.10% or 160.0 points to 3745.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 939 to 935.
Shares in Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) rose to all time highs; up 3.47% or 77.0 to 2293.0. Shares in Kajima Corp. (T:1812) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 3.42% or 24.0 to 726.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.39% to 20.23.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.56% or 0.23 to $41.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $44.25 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.31% or 3.30 to trade at $1066.80 a troy ounce.
