Karachi Port handles 123,349T of cargo, Qasim port cargo volume of 50,268T

PORTS: The Karachi Port handled 123,349 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,583 tonnes of import cargo and 17,766 tonnes of export cargo including 3,956 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 105,583 tonnes comprised of 39,776 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,559 tonnes of general cargo; 30,805 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,576 tonnes of coal; 5,815 tonnes of DAP; 5,740 tonnes of rock phosphate; 4,229 tonnes of urea; 6,375 tonnes of SB meal and 31,443 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 17,766 tonnes comprised of 5,476 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,250 tonnes of talcum powder and 8,040 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,956 containers comprising of 3,186 containers import and 770 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 838 of 20’s and 1,169 of 40’s loaded while 10 of 20’s and nil of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 158 of 20’s and 71 of 40’s loaded containers while 196 of 20’s and 137 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely ACX Crystal, Conti Taipei, Hanjin White, Mino and Pacific Pioneer carrying containers, seeds and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Hyundai Vancouver, ER Canada, Uni Premier, Neptune Pioneer and Alam Murni carrying containers and coal respectively currently at the berths.

There was one ship namely Shinano carrying talcum powder sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely Uni Premier, Alam Murni and Gloria Galaxy carrying containers, coal and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. There were four vessels viz. Ponente, YM Enlightenment, Northern General and Sima Prestige carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz. Royal Emerald Alfios, Atlas and Ru Yi Song carrying oil tanker, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

A cargo volume of 50,268 tonnes comprising 37,196 tonnes of import cargo and 13,072 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 581 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 37,196 tonnes includes 16,291 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,600 tonnes of edible oil; 11,593 tonnes of chemical and 5,712 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 13,072 tonnes includes 6,583 tonnes of cement and 6,489 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were three ships namely CV Wide Bravo, MV Pan Rapido and MT Denca Cougar with containers, urea and cement sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two ships namely MT Feng Hai-36 and MV Chem Road Quest carrying edible oil and chemical are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Wide Bravo, MV Denca Gougar, MV Sea Merchant, MV Pan Rapido, MV Chem Road Quest, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Ex Quisite and MT Feng Hai-36 currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, urea, chemical, diesel oil, LNG and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as four ships carrying containers, cement and edible oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.

There were two vessels carrying containers and diesel oil expected to took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There are five ships namely CV Palena, MV Alam Madu, MV C Harmony, MV Apolo and MT Ji Xiang carrying containers, cement, canola seeds and edible oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.
