KP-BOIT planning to establish resort in Malam Jabba to promote tourism

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT) is progressing to establish a ‘state of the art’ resort for tourists, chairlift, and skiing facility to boost tourism in scenic valley of Malam Jabba, Swat.

A significant progress has been made for setting-up multi-facilities two-tourist resorts and skiing facility, along with refurbishment of chairlift in picturesque valley of Malam Jabba, this was stated by the board vice chairman, Senator Mohsin Aziz in a press release issued here on Wednesday.

Consequent upon establishment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade, he said the incumbent provincial government had outlined a plan to rehabilitate the Ski/Chairlift/hotel project, which was floated the KP-BoIT in collaboration of Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the project is step towards modernising the tourism sector.

He mentioned hotel, skiing resort, and chairlift project was earlier established by the then government with assistance of Austrian government.

He said the hotel was burnt down by militants during insurgency and militancy in Swat, which had caused major setback to tourism sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mr Aziz  said the project was floated by KP-BoIT and had offered a piece of land measuring 275-acre to a leading firm M/S Samson Group of Companies on long lease for setting up modern tourists resort, along with added facilities of chairlift, and skiing at the Malam Jabba. He said the company is working on fast-track basis for timely completion of project, with addition multi-facet facilities for tourists. The firm would develop ski resort with all allied facilities and develop a dual purpose chairlift for serving skiers and general tourists during winter as well as in summer, he added.

“Malam Jabba is truly paradise on the earth, because of its lush green mountains, cerulean rivers and lakes just welcome tourists. The project will further boost tourism in the area, with availability of modern skiing facility, chairlift and resort for tourists in the valley, the release is quoting Mr Aziz stated. He expressed the hope that the tourists resort will have opportunity to local as well foreign tourists, to enjoy surrounding panoramic views, during their stay at the scenic valley of Swat.

The establishment of modern Ski will provide opportunity to the tourists to enjoy skiing at adventurous resorts. Chairlift will be also installed to enhance value to the resort, said KP-BoIT Vice chairman, Senator Mohsin, quoting in the press release.

Malam Jabba, a picturesque valley of Swat, is favorable holiday destination for local as well as foreign tourists, due its highest mountain range, streams, gushing trees, and great splendid locations. The area is the hill station located in Karakorum mountain range nearly 40-km from Saidu Sharif, Swat.

Every year in summer season, people travel from far and wide to this scenic spot for its diverse mix of beaches, adrenaline activities, parties, nature, and history.  He expressed the hope that upon completion of the project, tourists from Pakistan and all over world use to visit the scenic venue to enjoy nature.
