A large number of advocates, chartered accountants and tax practitioners also attended the Full Court Reference and wished a bright and prosperous future for the retiring chairman. On the occasion, the retired Chairman Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) thanked all the participants, especially those who arranged the Full Court Reference and hoped that with the passage of time relations between the Bench and the Bar will be strengthened and every effort will be made to ensure the sanctity of judiciary and implementation of rule of law in this country.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Appellate Tribunal Revenue is the final authority imparting tax-related cases on the basis of facts. It has its headquarters in Islamabad, whereas its benches/offices are operating in three provincial headquarters i.e. Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.

In the hierarchy of the ATIR, the Chairman, hailing from judiciary, steers the state of affairs of the ATIR not only on judicial plan s but also provides his vision and experience in the smooth running of administrative matters. As far as retired Chairman ATIR concerned, Jawaid Masood Tahir Bhatti was joined ATIR in 1998 as Judicial Member and elevated to the post of Chairman in June,2012 by virtue of his vast and dependable experience and acumen in tax laws. He has always been famous for his patient hearing and giving decisions to the satisfaction of both the sides – the taxpayers and the tax collectors.

A large number of decisions authored by him have found place in the leading tax journals of Pakistan. He has also been very instrumental in contributing in various journals of good reputation in the country as well.
